Java not staying on computer?
« on: September 07, 2008, 01:37:34 PM »
I have Windows XP. Every night I shut my computer down and by morning I turn it back on and JAVA is not working. If I click on the JAVA (cup) in my control panel nothing happens and I can't open anything that uses JAVA. I would remove JAVA through my control panel and re-down load the software everyday if I want to use it. Any advice would help, I'm tired of removing and re-downloading.

That would run up a lot of downloads.  Please read this: http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,33323.0.html.  Post back with computer specs.  Also, tell when problem started, what version of Java, and where you downloaded from.

Windows XP, custom built computer Pentium 4 Intel 1 GB Ram...Had this problem since I bought it. Went on to JAVA.com and downloaded the latest version. When I turn on my computer in the mornings and tried to go to the JAVA.com site to verify JAVA is still on my computer it immediately closes out the Internet automatically.

    Download JavaRa
    • Unzip the file and open the JavaRa.exe
    • Click Remove Older Versions
    • JavaRa will search for and remove any outdated version of Java and remove any that are found.
    • Click Additional Tasks
    • Place a check next to Remove Useless JRE Files and click Go
    • Exit JavaRa
    • Delete the JavaRa files from the Desktop
    .
    Go to:
    • Start
    • Run
    • type: CLEANMGR.EXE
    • Press Enter.
    .
When prompted select the C: drive and click OK.
    Check the boxes for:
    • Temporary Internet Files
    • Downloaded Program Files
    • Recycle Bin
    • Temporary Files
    .
    Click OK or Enter

Restart the computer and see how it is now.

    Try this.

Go to download the program HostsXpert
    • Unzip HostXpert to your Desktop
    • Open up the HostXpert program.
    • Make sure that the "Make Hosts Writable?" button in the upper right corner is enabled.
    • Click Create Back Up
    • Then click on Restore Microsoft's Host Files
    • Close the HostXpert program
    .
Note: if you use SpywareBlaster, Spybot and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection they afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and select Enable all protection. For Spybot run the program and select Immunize. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.
