Dumb move on Symantecs part. The Ask toolbar is detected by multiple malware scanners as adware/malware.

And rightly so, IMO-

Does anybody actually WANT these toolbars? Do the Ask, Yahoo, etc toolbars even do ANYTHING useful? All I can see is them being used to advertise the site.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

Doesn't matter if they physically do anything. It's another form of advertising and directing traffic to affiliate web sites.

I don't know where the link is now but it was widely rumored that the AVG/Yahoo deal was astronomical. It's big business...
