When you get to Normal Mode, what happens if you start a new process in Task manager called explorer.exe?

Yeah there were some in the virus vault, thats why I thought I'll give pa a clean comp and he'll be happy, he doesn't clean his comp himself.

A process called Explorer.exe is already running in the task manger.

List exactly what you did prior to this happening...and in what order you did them...what you installed, etc., etc.

Then list what you have done...in order...to try to rectify the issue.

Here I go...

I went to my pa's comp , did a few things on it, cought a few warnings about malware, tried an anti virus , actually this anti virus comes with my isp but pa had got it removed and had another antivirus , I wanted to practice a little on this antivirus , to ghet used to it, I thought I'll uninstall it later.

I updated papa's Java , I got things malwarebites, superantispyware etc etc I system scanned in safe mode (Its so embarrassing , i had a lot of free time , so...)

Opened myspace , Youtube etc etc

Thats all I remember

And then the comp suddenly shut down and restarted and restarted and the above no icons etc

I did sfc /scannow in normal mode and it said ''files that are reqd for windows to run properly must be copied to DLL Cache, Insert your window xp pro cd'' but you guys know about the CD Issue.

I haven't removed the antivirus , I went to msconfig and from the services tab I unchecked the antivirus.I need password to remove it, that my ISP can provide.

I have uninstalled the other stuff already.

Unless there is a virus hiding in your computer. In that case, we can help you remove it.

Sounds like a monkey virus or something.  Seems nasty I know this is going to sound dumb but it could help.  IF he's running xp go get the disc an put it in accutly any will work an say repair an see if that helps any.  Also, hope that you have a startup disc mite be helpful.
