moterhboard light yellow

When this first started we got orange/red strips on the montier when wer shut down. We saw that the motherboard has a yellow on it. The computer will not shut down. It restarts. We have wiped the hard drive clean. Now we are lost.
Could you give us an idea as to what this could be. Could it be the battery inside the computer?

There is a light on the mother board and it is yellow. We have another computer and the light is green on the mother board. We have switched out the moniters to verify it was the moniter going back and it was find. We have checked the video card and it is okay also. Now we are wondering if is the battery or the motherboard going bad.

You should really find the manual for your motherboard and see if that light means anything.

We have a dell and did not get a manual. The book that came with it doesn't say anything about it.
