    Minimized web pages.
    « on: September 23, 2008, 03:13:15 PM »
Whenever I click on one of my icons or choose a googled web page, it has started coming up minimized instead of on the whole screen. It didn't always do this and I wonder if I hit something by mistake. Can anyone give me some direction here...just a beginner. Thanks.

      Welcome to Computer Hope!

What web browser and operating system are you using?
If you don't have time to do it right
...when will you have time to do it over?

But, what web browser do you use to access Google? Some choices are : Internet Explorer or Firefox or Safari or Opera or Chrome.

If you use the web browser that came with Windows, that would be Internet Explorer (IE) - does that sound right?

Yes, internet explorer is it. I haven't got my terminology down just yet.

Okay - This has been a problem with IE for as long as I can remember :)

Let's try this: a) Open IE; b) Maximize the IE window - If you use Autohide for the Taskbar, turn Autohide off before maximizing the window; c)  After maximizing the window, increase the height of your taskbar from one row to two (left click and hold the top edge of the taskbar and drag it up. Wait for the IE window to re-size; d) Then drag the Taskbar back to its normal size - the IE window will re-size again; e) Close IE and re-open it - it should open maximized. If it doesn't, reboot the computer.

EDIT: In step c), make sure to "unlock" the Taskbar before trying to re-size it.

I made a mistake in my explanation of the problem. I shouldn't have used the term "minimize." What happens is this: when I click on a desktop icon like yahoo mail, that page opens up small and in the middle of the screen I have to click on the button to the left of the red x at the top of the screen to maximize it. Internet explorer seems to be working right, though. Sorry about the wrong description.

Actually, if clicking on the Yahoo icon (in your example) starts IE, then you described it fine - and you need to try the steps outlined.
