    ooChkDisk Problem
    « on: October 04, 2008, 07:26:24 AM »
    Hey guys,
I have been recommended this site by someone who had troubles once and I was wondering if you could make my troubles go away.
I got this new computer and it runs with Vista. It worked flawlessly for the past few days/weeks but then it didn't work as well... Everytime I start it up, i keep getting this ChkDisk sequence which always hangs at 65%. The longest i've left it is an hour or so and it still didn't load up. Please help if you can.
    Many Thanks,
    Steven ^^

Find out what brand hard drive is in that machine...
Travel to the manuf. site and DLoad their FREE diagnostics.
Follow their instructions on creating a bootable CD with the diagnostics.
Insert the CD hwn created and re-boot.
Run the long test and report back with the findings.

Use a different computer to download and create the CD...if you can.

Run the long test....this will tell you if that hard drive can be trusted or not.
I'd use the machine as little as possible til we figure out what is wrong.

I cant really use the machine because that ChkDisk thing always runs before I log in and it hangs so it wont complete itself.

Just out of interest, is there any alternative ways I can repair my PC?

Please do as Patio has told you.

You boot off the CD and it checks the drive for errors. Until we know if the drive is damaged or in good running order we can't tell you what to do next.

              Thanks!

Spoiler is correct...the bootdisk takes you directly to the diagnostics...it never sees Windows therefore chkdsk will not run.

It is.     Irrelevant in this instance however.
All it boots to is the diagnostics...it doesn't even see or get to the Windows startup.
