No programme access in normal mode
    « on: October 12, 2008, 09:21:41 PM »
Running Windows XP Home SP3 AMD Athlon 64 3200+

Started my computer and found most of the Desktop Icons missing including My Computer.  When I clicked on Start to show all programmes there is nothing there.  Then got a message saying that there was a virus.  Rebooted in Safe Mode and ran CC Cleaner and AdAware.  While I was running these I kept getting a pop-up for an anti virus programme.  This computer is never connected to the Internet but is Networked.
While in Safe Mode I put short cuts for the missing programmes on to the Desktop but when I rebooted in Normal Mode they were not there.  I tried a system restore but it will not me go back to an earlier date.
    Any help would be appreciated.
I aplogise if I have posted this in the wrong place.

I suggest you start by posting the three logs from this guide:

Sorted.  I downloaded and ran MalwareBytes and that solved my problems.
      Thank you.

We can still review your logs and identify any faults or forms of malware if you post the three logs.
