beeps from the motherboard.
« on: October 18, 2008, 05:30:14 PM »
I'm a new user here, I'm just wondering what could be causing this high pitched fairly loud beep from the motherboard? The entire pc works fine. It boots with no problems, only thing that could be wrong with it is one of the hd's in it seems to be corrupt or something. Any suggests on fixing it?

If the computer can boot, it's not a problem with the Hard drive.

Is this is a Laptop or Desktop?

Can you pin-point where this high pitched sound is coming from?

Ok, It's a desktop. I can't pin point where abouts its coming from, all I know is after it's fully booted and I try to start an application it starts to beep every few seconds then starts to beep constantly.

I just booted it, it booted without a beep, So i opened firefox and some other apps to see if it would beep (as that was what triggered it last time) and still no beeps. But I know it will start beeping again. I did hear 1 beep but it wasnt one like the ones I have heard before.

All right, keep an ear out for it.

One last test, hold down three of the arrow keys. Any beeps?
