Not sure if we have enough info - was original machine left off all time until HDD put back in?

What if anything was the performance of or any changes to that HDD in another machine.

Something has changed it seems but the original machine should not have minded the event if left off between removal and refit, and BIOS should not have changed plus, these days - auto detect should take care of HDDs.  I am wondering re boot sector right now.
Ain't technology great - until it goes wrong!

With any OS newer than WinME it's not wise to just swap HDD's from machine to machine.....but you know that now.

Are you getting any beeps and or error messages ? ?

And if it's a custom built machine, who is the motherboard manufacturer?
Why is this thus?  What is the reason for this thusness?
