    video problems

I've been having problems with my PC.  After booting a series of lines will appear on the screen eventually cause the computer to crash.  I'm not sure whether I need a driver update or whether I need to replace the hardware.  If anyone could give me advice I would greatly appreciate it.

Do you receive any error messages at all when the computer crashes...or do you have no display at all?

Were there any recent hardware/software changes made to this computer?

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode to see if the same thing happens?

Have you tried running System Restore to rollback to a time prior to this occurring?

I've gotten a few STOP error messages, but the number is different every time.  No recent hardware/software changes.  The problem is still there when run in safe mode and after a system restore.  I've unplugged and re-plugged my video card and made sure my drivers are up to date.  It seems like a hardware issue, but I'm not sure exactly what.
