Need to get rid of a panel
« on: February 28, 2009, 12:54:02 PM »
I am running Windows Vista on an E Machine.  When I connect to power  a panel pops up that has 5 language on it.  If I click on any language it disappears.  If I leave the panel alone it will be at the bottom right corner of my monitor.  If I click on it then the "display settings" panel comes up.  When I delete the panel it never shows up again, even if I shut down and start up again.  If I power up , like in the morning, it goes through the whole process again.  This is no big deal but I would like to get rid of it.  E Machines tried to help me but no joy.  I asked Microsoft but they will not help those who bought a computer that all ready had Windows installed.  Can anybody give me any suggestions.  Thanks   Bob

Thanks for your answer.  I am new to computers.  I don't know how to post a screen shot.  If you will tell me I will try to follow directions.  I am good at that, I have been married for 58 years...    Ha Ha   Bob

I followed your directions and after several tries I got an image.  I got a screen shot of my full screen.  At the time the panel that I am trying to get rid of was on the screen.  HOWEVER,  the panel did not appear on the print.  Why I don't know, it was there when I made the shot.  It is still there but it did not show in the print.  Any ideas?  Thanks  Bob

I'm not sure what you're doing wrong....

Download HijackThis:
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis/download
by clicking on Download HijackThis Installer
Install, and run it.
Post HijackTHis log.

I downloaded HijackThis and ran it.  The results mean nothing to me.  I don't know how to post it to this post.  This has gotten out of hand and too much of your time.  I can get rid of the panel by pressing a button on the side of my screen.  It is no big deal, I was wanting to get rid of it because I don't need it.  Thanks for your effort and time.  Bob

Let us just drop this topic.  As time goes by things may resolve its self.  It is not a life or death issue.  I do thank you for your time.  You have taught me a couple of things that I did not know how to do.  I'm sure I will have more problems.  Thanks   Bob
