Criticism - "Using Pendrive to boost Windows XP, Yes, its true!"

MDO a Russian IT organisation has developed an application to boost XP with pendrive. Its name is eBoostr. It is still in Beta version. It can be downloaded free at:

Flash drive is a bit slower than HDD access and/or RAM so i think i'll pass...

Sounds like it....all i can tell you is ReadyBoost is pretty much worthless.

I have to accept that it somewhat boosted my XP with 256 MB RAM.

That download is a trial version, that only works for 4 hours after each boot. You have to pay for the uncrippled version. The price is $39 USD, 26 euros, 20 GB pounds. I tried it with a decent speed 4 GB Sandisk pen drive, and uninstalled it after 2 days as I kept getting BSODs and strange freezes. Personally I found no increase in responsiveness on my 3 GHz Pentium 4 system with 1 GB of RAM.

The impression I got from reading web reviews is that this software will do little for a machine unless it has less than 1 GB of RAM and a slow hard drive, (like many laptops) and you definitely need a usb 2.0 high speed port.

Well, I don't think it's worth twenty quid, especially when you look at the price of RAM these days. The history of the PC is littered with various products aimed at people who want to boost their flagging PC's performance, but who don't want to spend a lot of money or open the PC's case. The real benefit is usually much much less than advertised. Anyone remember RAM Doubler?

Got rid of it, the uninstaller was asking me to give valuable feedback, and "why"() did I uninstall it.
