Nicely posted, TS.

BC -- I don't mind typos and mistakes, as you know -- and there are folks on here for whom English is not the first language.  I've never made fun of them, and I always try to be patient with them.

There's just too much lack of effort.  Some of this is grade school grammar.  I should post about it Off Topic, rant, and be done with it -- people aren't going to change.  It's cheap of me, but I read some of these posts, and then wonder that these people wonder why they're having computer problems???    ::)

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 2.50GHZ  ~ $260
Asus P5K-SE-EPU PCIEX16 ~ $80
4gb kingston ram ~ $100 (their gamer ram at least, rather pricery)
Two 9800's ~ $400
Windows vista 64-bit ~ $110
Blu-ray drive ~ around $200 really depends.
You didn't include your power supply or hard drive preference but
650watt sli ceritifed psu ~ $100 (70 after rebate)
750gb hard drive ~ $100
Case ~ ranges alot $60+

All of that works out to around $1400
Not sure if you're interested in spending $600 for it to be put together, but I sure wouldn't.  With that extra $600 you could upgrade that motherboard, that's a part I wouldn't suggest to skimp on.  I'm not even sure if the motherboard you've chosen supports sli.  You may also want to buy extra cooling/fans but I don't want to have to look that up now.

As far as patio's answer, your question didn't warrant an in depth explanation.  That computer clearly doesn't cost $2000 to make but I guess if it did that retailer wouldn't be in business.  You should try looking around online a bit before purchasing things.  In any case building your own rig is much cheaper and for $2000 you can get something much better.

Thank you, finally a good answer, thank you.

Now it's a different machine...
CPU
Board
1 vid card
etc.

I stand by my first estimate.

That seems like a nice system, Kizza, but I haven't priced out a whole system in a long time.  How's the price on this one?

Everybody else  made a comment, I guess I will to. ::)
The best answer is NO.  ;D
It is not a great deal because:
1. He will buy the game later. Hardware will drop before that.  >:(
2. He will not know what the game needs until others review it. :(
3. Vista may not be the OS of choice for that game. :'(
4. Dual Core CPU has problems. Quad core?   :o
5. Later  he may wish he spent $2000 on a boat.  :P

9pm has a point, why are you buying a computer for a game so far away?  It would be much better to wait until the game actually comes out.  In any case, I would be hard pressed to purchase a computer pre-made.  It will almost always be more expensive than if you spent the time to make it yourself and it isn't as hard as it seems.

I think posting here around the time the game is released would yield much better results.  Without knowing exactly what specs the game wants it's a little hard to recommend the best pc for your budget (for me at least, maybe one of the more versed members can help you).

Your wrong in a few sections there,
I read from the company that makes the game, that its OS is only Vista, I also read the specs for the required systems, you can't run a dual core on this game, it uses entire cores just to render graphics, so quad core is recommenced, if not required.

that would be the definition of dirty programming. You don't adapt the user's machine to run your program- you adapt your program to run on the user's machine. All this new stuff about stuff being "Vista compatible" for example can do nothing but make me laugh since the whole idea was to make the software compatible with the hardware, not the other way around.

For god's sake, I have a Monitor that declares on a sticker that it "works with Windows Vista" as if it's something special. This is especially interesting on account of monitors not requiring drivers and having a fairly standard interface for the longest time, so what does it have to do to be compatible with Vista? Nothing.

I don't know what this game is, but it will be the first game to ever use separate cores for graphics, game logic, etc. John Carmack has been researching this for quite some time and declared it to be fruitless- any gains made by making the game dual core/quad core would be lost because it is necessary for each thread to access data synchronously.

If it requires/recommends a quad core, it better have good graphics.

I think it's good to plan out the system, K, but hold off on the buy for a while.  See how the pricing goes, as it tends to drop when the next generation of hardware comes out.

The company provides recommended system specifications, and would most likely do this shortly before the game is completed.

Impossible. What else is there? Windows 7?
