I'm not so sure about folder-locking programs, but my friend has this software and he hasn't complained about it.

A good software to protect your files and folders with a password - Folder Castle. I use it during 6 month and I recommend it. http://www.download.com/Folder-Castle/3000-2092_4-10899509.html

what you are doing, is exactly what is stated above. Your trying to push others into purchasing this product, which may or may not be particularly good- And, considering it is known malware- most people tend to avoid such things.

Especially when their are alternatives that work better, and omit the "malware" component.

um- whats a "functional bug" where a feature works properly but isn't supposed to?

This was originally introduced in Windows98 SE and has been quite successful since.
There have been major improvements to this feature in Vista.

oh yeah, I remember the knowledge base articles.

        Q00034253453459345893859034859034589034 5

Problem: USB devices plugged into Windows machine won't cause a Blue Screen.

Symptoms: Upon plugging a USB device into their windows based machine, users may be mystified by the lack of a blue screen error as required in the windows user frustration guidelines.

Workaround: Often times, windows will wait until you have started an important task or have gone for a certain period of time (usually all day) without saving your document. Windows will then initiate a Blue Screen Error, selecting a random device on your system to blame for the error. Windows will then overwrite the contents of your "My Documents" folder with several useless memory dumps, in addition to several jpeg images of possums.

Status: Microsoft is to lazy to care about this problem. They recommend upgrading to a newer operating system that will more consistently fail.

You can't put too much faith in the PrevX warning. Encryption software is disliked by antivirus scanners that don't have that particular program in their database.

Why not just zip the file and password protect it?
