Virus? PC won't boot properly. Please check logs. Thanks

Hello, I was helped tremendously by this forum in the past.  Thank you.

I'm back for another computer.  It's a HP Pavilion, Media Center Edition, Version 2002, Running Windows XP with SP3 installed.  It uses an Intel Core 2.  Has a 240G Hard drive with 2G RAM.

After fixing my mom's computer a couple of months ago, I installed and regularly ran Avast (main antivirus program) Online Armor (firewall), MBAB, CCleaner, AdAware, SpyBot, and SuperAntispyware.  Very little spyware has been able to get through (or be detected anyway).

Recently, though, it began having quirky, annoying problems like not automatically filling in the rest of the web page you were typing.  So I ran my programs like normal.  One spyware was detected by Superantispyware quickscan.  It asked for a reboot, which i did.  From then on the PC would not completely load windows.  The first time, it loaded almost all the way but didn't start the antivirus or firewall programs, so I restarted again.  Then it wouldn't load past the desktop with a moveable cursor.  I needed to restart in safe mode with networking to complete the "Read this before requesting help" post.  Here are the results of that process:

    Step 1: Nothing suspicious looking
Step 2: CCleaner removed 1445 MB of crap
    Step 3: SAS log:

To be honest, I'm not quite sure what your problem might be.  The only issue I see is this entry:

    O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - ?p=ZJxdm268YYUS

Run another scan with HijackThis, place a checkmark next to that entry, close all other windows, and click on Fix Checked.

Aside from that, I'm not seeing any issues.  I don't see anything that makes me suspect a virus, but because your computer seems to boot find in Safe Mode, it doesn't sound like a hardware issue...

I haven't tried this yet in Safe Mode, but see if you can get this to run...
Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your Desktop.
    • Double click on RSIT.exe to run.
    • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
    • Once it has finished, two logs will open.
    • log.txt <will be maximized and info.txt <will be minimized
    • Please post the contents of both logs in the next reply.

Sorry I downloaded and ran the RSIT before I deleted that one entry.  Then I ran it again afterwards.  When I ran it the second time I didn't get the info file jus the the log file--attached...

I found the info file, but I think it was from before hte delete.  Hope it helps.

I'll be honest...it's not hard to miss something in one of these RSIT logs, but nothing really catches my eye as being malicious.  I think this might not be a virus problem and could perhaps be a hardware issue or a glitch with your OS.  My main focus is on malware, so I think it would be best for you to head over to the Windows section and see what kind of help you can get...

OK.  I'll give that a try.  Thanks for your help.
