.LNK File Extension Problem
« on: April 29, 2004, 10:29:51 PM »
Today my computer began changing file extensions on its own. I use Netscape as my browser, but all the programs in the start up column on the left of the screen suddenly began showing the IE icon, with a file name ending with ".LNK" Any program icon I move to the desktop has the change as well. For example, I had a few installation icons on my desktop today, but the names had all changed to ".EXE.LNK" extensions. Clicking on them opens the download manager.
I ran a virus scan and can find nothing. I've never seen this kind of thing before. Even my icons I'd moved to the bottom left toolbar suddenly appeared with the IE icon. I've used Netscape for some time now and have never experienced anything like this.

.lnk is the extension for links, like shortcuts and favorites.
