Have an Averatec mod. 5110H notebook, just 10 days past the one year warranty, with a defective DVD/CD drive and Averatec has ignored several requests to repair under warranty.
The next logical step, of course, is to repair the notebook myself, having been an electronics/communications/computer tech for about 50 years and have never been unable to dis-assemble any piece of hardware I ever encountered, but this *@^$~& has me stumped. Apparently this pile of junk has a secret dis-assembly feature. I get to the point of seperating the keyboard half from the lower half, with all visible screws, clips, hooks etc. removed..... still can not seperate to get at DVD/CD drive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
