    Problem running DOS applications

    Hello Folks,

    I cann't run DOS applications under my Wxp, and I keep getting
    the following message:

    "C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable
    for running MSW applications..."

    I am soooo offended  ;D!!!  Any help is much appreciated...

      In a nutshell, copy autoexec.nt from your C:\windows\repair directory and paste it into your C:\windows\system32 directory.

        Also, you might consider installing a good virtual DOS machine (vdm).  I personally like the TameDOS VM, which unfortunately isn't freeware - I think it costs around $US29 nowadays -  but it's good value.  You would find that many DOS apps which run badly or not at all under WinXP will work fine with TameDOS installed.

        Of course, you would install this on another partition.
