    virus solution please
    « on: November 23, 2008, 03:20:25 PM »
somehow I got what I believe to be a virus on my Dell PC running Windows XP through a webpage (IE7). I'm not too familiar with all of the language here, so anyone that can help with simple instructions that I can follow I would really appreciate it. I have already spent too much money trying to have Best Buy try and fix without any luck.

here's what I see when I turn on the system: in lower right hand corner is a symbol that switches from a white "X" against a red shield to a white "?" behind a blue shield. When I click on it, it opens Internet Explorer to a "Antivirus Trigger" website that wants money to fix the problem.

everytime that I open Internet Explorer it takes over with this Antivirus Trigger frontpage. It has and continues to make that the default webpage and placed a toolbar on IE that states "remove malware" and "scan for spyware".

    Please help this novice. Thanks
