computer freezes up, forcing me to reboot
    « on: November 26, 2008, 08:06:42 AM »
I have an Acer Aspire with AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ with 3GB of ram and I'm running Vista on it.  I do download alot of torrents but I don't know if its a memory issue or a virus.  All the sudden while I'm doing something on the computer the whole screen locks up and i can do anything, not even pull up task manager, it makes me turn off and on my computer.  Sometimes it happens when I'm not doing something as well.  If someone could please help me that would be great

       1. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK.
       2. On the General tab, click Diagnostic Startup, and then click OK.
       3. Restart your computer.

If the problem does not occur, use Selective startup mode to try to find the problem by turning individual services and startup programs on or off.

    good luck! :)

I would actually advise against this, unless you know EXACTLY what you're doing.
If you post the logs, we can check to see whether or not the computer is infect, and we can help you cure the computer.

Also, if you cannot run the scans because the computer keeps locking up, try in Safe Mode

You have to be patient. Someone will get there.
