Video editting software - need recommendations

I am looking to purchase a software program that can help me edit video clips.

I want something that is a good program, while at the same time being pretty user friendly.

Does anyone have a software that they would recommend? Anyone tried one that they hate?

I was looking at Pinnacle Studio.  Has anyone tried that one?

Thanks for doing some research for me.  Those were the two I saw at the stores that I am considering.  I was hoping to find someone who has some experience with either one...
