    Display Adapter Problem
    « on: December 09, 2008, 09:45:01 AM »
I'm suddenly getting 1 long, 2 short beeps on my ASUS A8N-SLI Premium board.

I've looked up the code and it says that there is a bad display adapter (video adapter).  The connection to the monitor is OK, but what in *censored* is a display adapter???

    I'm using 2 8800GT nVidia cards.

Check to see if both cards are seated properly.
    Also check the crossfire/SLI connector.

It all appears to be solid.

Try removing both cards and reinstall it again in its slots, see if the problem disappears...

try booting with only one card. (if no joy, try the other card)

sounds like maybe one (or both) of the cards is having problems.

I don't have another 939 card.  If it appears that the mb is fried or somehow malfunctioning, I would have to purchase another one.

But before shelling out $100, I'd like to be sure the mb is the problem.  The error beep is one long, two short.

I just read a chat on another tech support website I found through Google.  The guy had exactly the same problem I have.  He worked through the video cards and the memory.  eventually the problem was the mb.

He RMAed his, but I run my business on it and can't afford that amount of time, so purchasing a used mb might be the answer.

Do you know a place where I could get a new a8n mb??

Is there a local computer shop you could take the system to & have them check out? Before you go and buy anonter board. DO NOT BUY A USED BOARD
