I doubt the ISPs will do anything.

Probably 20% of internet users have at some time, illegally downloaded something.

With around 50 million net users in America, thats TEN million users lost. Multiplied by around $30 a month, this is a total loss of $300 Million a month. or $3.6 Billion a year.

Not to mention it would cripple online sales. Too much to be lost. I think we're safe.

    I totally agree.
    Scare tactics, that's all.
If RIAA couldn't do it by itself, why would they believe, ISPs will do better in that matter?
If facing a court didn't scare people off, why would disconnecting internet service do better?

just remember the lyrics to "don't download this song".

Cause you start out stealing songs,
    then your robbing liquor stores,
    and selling crack,
and running over schoolkids with your car!

see people, software/music piracy is a gateway crime.

Despite the bad grammar used by Ruler, I agree, the people running the RIAA and music industry are rich enough. I grew up with my father, who, raised us scraping in barely a grand each month from disability since his back went out about 16 years ago. I never had money for nothin', let alone to pay for music, a service, which, throughout time up until records, was free. This is just pointless, whats next? They going to try to make us pay to breath? They already make us pay for everything else, can't so much as fart anymore without them wanting to charge you for pollution. Things have gotten out of hand, too much power has been handed to individuals like the people running the RIAA, we have the right to surf the web privately and freely as we choose to do so. This country, and seemingly the rest of the "Civilized" world is going straight into a brick wall because of policies put in place to ensure our "Safety and well being".

Just stop and think, every paper currency has eventually become obsolete, and replaced time and time again with coin, every civilization, no matter how great, has eventually become obsolete, unable to cope with times, and it falls. The same is true for modern society, things won't last forever. Stop bickering and enjoy what little you got, take what you can and don't look back. Life won't stay this good forever, its bound to come to a screeching halt sooner or later. You want to live knowing all you did in your life was work for a dollar if or when that happens? Assuming you live through it.

My only advise to anyone to busy to worry about material items like currency, clothing, any such item, is simply this; Take what you can, don't look back, live your life as you choose to do so. You may not be accomplishing anything in some peoples eyes, but you will at least be free, and that's all any one person can ask for, our birthright, which, is simply, freedom if your willing to fight for it. Nothing comes free, nothing comes without consequences, that's why I just enjoy being able to sit on my *censored* for the time being and do nothin'. Accept what you got, or don't, be greedy if you choose, its the freedom were all given. Freedom to do what we please, when we please. Others wish to control that freedom, I say, to *censored* with them. The only way they'll control what I do is if I'm dead.

the whole charade was just the RIAA turning the courts into their personal playground.

Their are more important cases out there. you know, ACTUAL crime, like murders, rape, assault, etc.

Copying copyrighted material is an ACTUAL crime, last time I checked anyway. It's against the law. People break that law. Doesn't that make it a crime?

Not saying they were right, just saying it's still a crime, although perhaps a minor one.

It's an actual crime, I am not denying that...

but it almost seems like their putting far to much effort into it, as opposed to those where people are actually enduring physical and mental hardship as a result of a crime commited. I don't think the artists cry themselves asleep because their music was downloaded. (Although I have no way to confirm that).

It would be like going after somebody whose drove a red light with the SWAT team and FBI.

My opinion is that they should be going after the distribution points rather then the people using those distribution points. there are far fewer places to download illegal content then there are people downloading the content.

I agree with BBC, attacking the ISP's because people choose to download content illegally is like, attacking the patrol cops because they can't be everywhere at once to catch every single guy who speed's or runs a red light.
