Hey everyone! I wanted to install Fusion news, but its too hard to install... I wanted to try CuteNews, but have no idea what to do there either... lol   Can anyone tell me of a decent looking blog/program that I can insert messages into my website with? This will be used to that me and my staff can post messages... Thanks!

I found this blurb in the installation instructions:

In your serendipity configuration, you can set an 'embed' option to true or false.

This defines, whether you use your blog as a standalone webpage - or if you have different content wrapped around your blog, like the menu of your usual homepage.

I'm not sure if this is what you meant, but it sounds promising!

Well... This won't work... Winzip can't seem to extract the files...  :'(  Any other blog service you know of?

I had no problem with Serendipity 0.7.1. WinZip handled like a champ. It did stop and say there was one archive in the zip file and asked if I wanted to create a temp dir, but after I answered Yes, it took off.

The other version was 0.8 but it was marked beta.

I'll hunt around and see if I can find anything else.

In response to the private message... I downloaded the file, but when Winzip tried to unzip it, it said that it couldn't be done... Any ideas?

ok... Well at least I have the files... Now... I need someone to help me install the files... If anyone knows, please post... Flame, I actually coded my own blog/CMS as my Advanced Higher Computing Project in school, using a mix of Webmonkey and the PHP manual. It's about as secure as a paper safe and about as feature rich as a draught excluder, but if you like I'll send you the source code so you can mess with it yourself.

But I mean, there are hundreds of others out there...

Yeah its quite easy to make your own blog using PHP and a database, probably easier than downloading a service. You can also create a login page on your website so that you or an admin can log in and add a blog. You store the login details in the database too.

Is it that easy when you have no PHP knowledge though... lol  I have no PHP knowledge, which is why I tried the services to have them tell me what's up...  :-[

I would recommend learning PHP as it would probably bring big improvements to your site and help you learn more about web design. What web sever is your website running on currently? I think the hardest bit is probably setting up PHP and the database itself.
