I read somewhere that the American national debt now exceeds the national GDP.

So even if America were to try to pay off its dept (like that would ever happen!), it's too late.  The hole can only get deeper...

Depressing, if you're an American.  If you live in any other country though, especially one that's bullied by the American government, it's cause to party.  ;D

Did you read the book/see the movie "The mouse That Roared" ?

Maybe some very small solvent nation will take over.

Never saw the film, but the book was excellent.  ;)

The world is becoming more and more polarized between those who want globalization and those who want more local control.  I fall into the latter crowd...

      Oops. Politically incorrect. Emerging nations.

They want control of their local politics,
economy,  culture, privacy and and moral values.

Someday soon they will get it.
The world economy has been damaged by the "advanced' nations.
When they go broke, the little nations will stop exporting to them.
And then the local people can enjoy their own products.

And Global Warming will slow down.

Well... It's not free like they say. The Insurance premiums are mandatory too, at least for British Columbia. It's BS though, since you cannot choose an insurance company- you HAVE to get it through the government.

And even then you still end up paying out your nose if you ever have to go to the hospital. GRRRRR.

i think we all have to say that greed is a good reason for having to pay for everything with such high prices.

Global Warming is a very controversial topic, but there is only one answer to the question of it's legitimacy.

Many people refuse to accept that Global Warming even exists. That is exactly what I did when I first heard of this outrageous concept. I received an email about a website where over a million of the worlds scientists signed a petition stating that global warming is a hoax and there is no scientific evidence to prove it. And I believed it, as I'm sure many people did.  But the real reason many people accepted it is because they WANTed to accept it; people believe what they want, not what they are told. You may think something is real or not real when you first hear of it, but the only reason you do is because you want to believe it is!

              But seriously face the facts:
              • Glaciers are melting in every region of the world, putting many people at risk.
              • In 2003, in Scotland, hundreds of adult salmon died in Scotlands famous fisheries as rivers became to warm for the fish to extract oxygen from the water.
              • Ocean reefs around the world have suffered damage from unusually warm ocean temperatures.
              • Cities like Athens, Chicago, Milan, New Delhi and Paris have sweltered under heatwaves. And The 2003 summer heatwave in Europe killed 14,800 people in France alone.
              • Summer temperatures in European capitals have increased by up to 2°C over the last 30 years.
              -From http://www.panda.org/about_wwf/what_we_do/climate_change/problems/global_warming/scientific_proof/

Come on people, there is your proof right there. If you still refuse that Climate change is no happening go watch "An Inconvenient Truth".

People only believe what they want to believe.

those *censored* dinosaurs must have been burning a helluva lot of fossil fuels during the mesozoic for it to have tropical temperatures worldwide... oh wait- they BECAME fossil fuels. huh.

"An inconvenient truth" was created by Al Gore. Al Gore is NOT a scientist. He's not even a ecologist or activist. He's just a douchebag politician. And, like all douchebag politicians (henceforth referred to simply as politicians) they only do something in the public eye to further their political agenda.

the site you took that information from is biased. Even if the earth was getting warmer it's self-important of people to think it is man-made. To think that people, in the tiny sliver of earths history that we have been industrialized, would have spewed enough so called "Greenhouse gases" (which, I might add, are mostly HEAVIER the AIR and would thus SINK) to warm the Earth even slightly, is bogus.

Al Gore says to switch over to Solar and Wind. and lets just say we do, yet he doesn't and his house eats like twice or 3 times as much energy as a regular house.

                He's just a big hypocrite.
