    Problems with <windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe. I also been having the same problem. As many others have been experiencing. if you notice in the bar says system32. Meaning 32bit. Your system just may be 64bit. And so as I have been researching and asked several technicians. They have said And I have seen az far az looking for a used 64 bit Xp pro CD. they are 64bit Xp pro and there are 32bit Xp pro..  I have seen classifieds saying
    Date: 2009-01-15, 1:14PM Selling Windows XP Pro 32 Bit w/SP3, Windows XP Pro 64-bit w/SP2 (there is no SP3 for 64bit XP yet) and Windows Vista Ultimate w/SP1 (32bit or 64bit) All are fully update-able and will have no problems with using.
    XP Pro - $40
    Vista - $60
    And so I say to you is your system a 32bit or 64bit. when you turn on your pc. the window says what kind of bits you have. let me know it this insighthas helped you.

    when the computer first reboots during the install, don't boot from the CD but rather from your hard drive. (remove the Disc if necessary, or just don't push a key on the "press any key to boot to CD" prompt)
    I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

        I had come to find out that my system is 64bit. So I need to find a 64 bit xp pro CD.

        XP 32 will run fine on a 64bit machine...so this isn't the issue either.

          I must really have a problem.. I installed the same xp on on my other pc which 450 mhz, 400 memory.
          But it didnt work on my AMD sempron 3400 And I zero out both hard drives which one is a 400gig seagate.
          120 maxtor.
