    its an HP pavillion dv 6000...

    I think thats what you want right?

    I've just always heard its near impossible to add ram.

    Good news!

    you have two RAM slots, and each can hold up to 1GB (2GB total).
    $11.99 per 1GB is basically free :)

      Your manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035677.pdf, shows you how easy it's to replace RAM (chapter 5-6). Just two screws:
