battery
« on: January 23, 2009, 08:36:58 AM »
I have a compaq presario R3000.  This computer has issues with the power adapter-connector-motherboard.  From my readings of various online articles this is a problem that affected many owners of this model.  I'm willing to retire this computer but I want to retrieve all the info on the hard drive
Question: How can I Recharge the battery without going through the mother board?  Is there a simple method of connecting the correct voltage/amps to the pins on the battery and charging it? (Sort of like connecting a charger to a car battery?) I could then install the charged battery and quickly transfer everything to a external hard drive-before the battery runs down.

Thank you in advance

No need to recharge that machine to get your data...
Simply follow the directions for removing your drive.
Then grab one of these...

About 8 or 10 Bucks from any PC store
2.5" laptop to IDE connector.
This will allow you to hook up that drive to any working Desktop and copy/burn your importanat data.
Good Luck
