    Blank Screen - bad mouse?
    « on: April 21, 2005, 11:22:57 AM »
I'm fighting an intermittant problem with boot going to a blank screen.
I suspect a problem with the mouse because the problem clears when I reboot without the mouse, but stays gone when I reboot with mouse connected.
Blank screen happens in sequence after display of mouse initialized, but before reporting hard drive (and well before starting operating system load). Clearing blank screen by CTRL-ALT-DEL doesn't work, but system reset does do restart which ends back up at blank screen.

Questions are - Is it reasonable to think a bad mouse could result in blank screen, and
any ideas on verifying problem is in mouse?

"Intermittant" in this case is 3 fails in about 50 starts, making it hard to pin down.

Followup is never could get the problem to stay around long enough to find the cause. Concensus is that mouse probably was not it.
