    Cannot access some sites
    « on: February 05, 2009, 08:24:28 PM »
Hi, I'm not sure if this problem belongs in this section, my apologies if it doesn't. For about a week now, there are certain sites that I cannot visit no matter which Internet browser I use. Firefox tells me Address not Found and IE says Page cannot be displayed. I even downloaded Opera and still got the same thing. All the sites I try to access are .bg domain names, that means they are from Bulgaria (I'm Bulgarian myself). I am able to access these sites from other computers, which means that this is not a website-related problem. I have changed absolutely no settings on my computer, web browsers or settings for the way I connect to the Internet. I don't have a firewall, proxy, and I have scanned for viruses and all that and got nothing. Is this a problem from my ISP? Thanks.

      Nothing here. It's clean.

Turn off computer. Disconnect router, and modem from power source for 30 seconds.
      Power them back on.
      Restart computer.

If that doesn't work, bypass router, and connect computer straight to the modem.

      If that doesn't work...
Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in:
      cmd
Click OK (in Vista, while holding CTRL, and SHIFT, press Enter).

In Command Prompt window, type in following commands, and hit Enter after each one:
      ipconfig /flushdns
      ipconfig /registerdns
      ipconfig /release
      ipconfig /renew

      Restart computer.

      If that doesn't work...
Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in:
      cmd
Click OK (in Vista, while holding CTRL, and SHIFT, press Enter).

      At Command Prompt, type in:
      netsh int ip reset reset.log
      Hit Enter.
      Type in:
      netsh winsock reset catalog
      Hit Enter.

      Restart computer.

      If that doesn't work...
Download, install, and run WinSockFix: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Network-Tweak/WinSockFix.shtml
      Restart computer, and check again.

I really appreciate your reply. A few days ago I tried restarting the router and the computer, and it worked. Today I experinced the same problem, and tried the "netsh int ip" thing and it fixed the problem. It seems I am able to fix it, but any idea as to why it might keep occuring?

I'd suspect some hardware problem. Router/modem/network card.
If you're using router, try to connect straight to the modem for couple of days, and see, if connections holds.
