Hey Harry,

You are sure your "First" Poll is not biased, like the way it would be conducted in the Third World?
How about fixing the choices to:

-All of them
-One or more of them
-None of them

and start over.

Regards.

heads in the sand or what just like a big dumb bird

google gives us a definition for the term depression:

Quote
a long-term economic state characterized by unemployment and low prices and low levels of trade and investment

Quote
the state of the economy declines; a widespread decline in the GDP and employment and trade lasting from six months to a year

I don't believe either of these definitions are met. prices are no lower, and unemployment has barely increased... that doesn't stop the papers from blathering about how (in Canada) the national unemployment rate has "soared" to 7.2%. Of course you don't see any articles titled, "92.8% of canadians still working". even in properous times- you don't see headlines like "EVERYTHING IS FINE" Its  all negative. because negative sells.

Even IF there was going to be a recession, my job security is too high to measure and so is my rate of pay, meaning a drop in prices would really be good for me since I'd have more buying power.

Actually, come to think of it, the economy even in times of prosperity has always followed a psuedo sine-wave of ups and downs... with extended highs during wartime... which may be one of the reasons the US has been so war-happy lately.

yes... but every year they get a salary increase that get's mentioned nowhere, since it's in their contracts.

same here in Canada, except this year they actually declined their own raise which I think was pretty cool.

False.....No Repubs as you call them voted for it...
There was also a promise from the new Administration to publish the bill in full on the web for 3 days so it could be scrutinised....promise broken 12 hours later as the bill got passed.

Seven years later  four sickly naked men are sitting in a old rubbish heap.

Calum: WOW! Don't blame me for this, I never believed  it.
      Geek-9pm: Nobody is blaming anybody.
BC_Programmer:  If more peopl had not believed it, we would not be here.
Geek-9pm: Hey, Patio, what to you have to say?
Patio: I am not here.  ::)

If in seven years I am sitting in a rubbish heap with you, I'll believe in anything, including the recession and global warming.  I will also eat the entire heap of rubbish.
If on the other hand I'm not, please respect my freedom of choice to believe in exactly what I like, including the tooth fairy.

I'll believe in economic hard times caused by the media hunting for something negative to report, and then creating a HUGE GLOBAL DEPRESSION O NOES!!! as I have been affected by it personally.  My dad was laid off from work, and the government's benefit system is entirely whacked.  I'm not complaining as there are millions worse off than me all over the world.
However this talk of a global depression/recession/economic crisis is overhyped rubbish, caused purely by the media looking for headlines.  Look at the facts, and tell me I'm wrong ... I'll believe it if you have any evidence.

      Where have you been? ;D

Unemployment rates are almost 10% here in Ireland. That's a lot when you have a country of just over 4.5 million people.

I wonder if any one of the people who voted on this stimulus package
in the US has of yet even read it.

I am glad this is a Democrat bill. ;)
