We need you to tell us where you found the product key. Was it on a sticker, or on the CD case, or where was it?

MDG is a Canadian computer store chain, they don't make computers. Many people on the Web say they have really bad customer service, is this why you have not contacted them?

no i had not heard that at all, but if thats what i got to do i will. I was just trying to fix it my self

I think you should find your sales receipt if you can, but first you should read the MDG XP User Guide book that you should have got with your laptop. It tells you what to do if you get a message saying that your product key is invalid. On page 9. Or maybe you did this already? here is a link to the online version.
