Im in search for a answer to my scanner problem. My hp 4300c is not working with my windows 98se...it is not even listed in the "add hardware" option. Now Ive been up and down the internet about problmes with this scanner, mostly everyone posts that its USB problems. I was able to use this scanner back in January. I have disabled my other USB devices (memory stick, printer and camera) software...and still no hope. I also have read that that scanner and XP do not work because one is 32 bit and ones 64 bit....but what about it previously working on the 98se machine and not now?
