    HELP!!
    « on: March 10, 2009, 08:49:00 PM »
My son I think switched the power on the power strip off so he shut the computer down by doing this. Now when we try to restart it it will stay on the acer startup screen for a lllooonnngg time like at least five minutes I am thinking, before it would only stay up long enough for you to blink.

Do you know what is happening, what I need to fix???

    Welcome to ComputerHope.

When you say it stays on the Acer Startup Screen, do you mean the screen with the Acer logo?

    What Operating System is this?

Laptop or Desktop computer, and what is the model number?

Yes it stays on the Acer logo screen. Other thank taking forever to load up it appears to work fine. This is my MIL's computer and she says theres a sys tray error too but I'm not sure if that just started or if it has been there. It's a desktop running Vista. I'm pretty sure it's an Acer Aspire M620. It also won't let her start in safe mode.

      Thank you. :)

Are there any error messages at all?

If you go to Event Viewer (http://computerperformance.co.uk/vista/vista_event_viewer.htm), are there any errors at all in your current Windows Session?

There was an error saying the computer was improperly shut down I think that's the only one that would really be relevant.

Thank you for showing me how to do that.

Is there anything else? (under System and Application)
Every error is important, because there should be none.
