Memory Question

I have a Gateway computer I bought new several tears ago. I have upgraded it a little throughout the years and it actually does pretty well for me. It is running pretty slow now and I was wondering if I needed to upgrade my memory and if so how much? I am using Windows 2000. I'm not sure of the model although it has a "GP" on the front. Right now it is showing that I have 194,864 KB RAM. Any thoughts on how to increase the memory?

Go to www.crucial.com, enter your computer brand, and model. It'll tell you, what can be done about the RAM.

Broni, Thanks! I went to www.crucial.com and checked out my memory. According to them I had all the memory my system will allow. I guess there is only so much I can do with a system as old as mine. It is almost 9 years old! Thanks again!

You may try to back up all your data, and go fresh reinstall.
It may speed things up a bit.

Firstly, I would suggest you to run a scan on the computer. for the scan please visit www.pestpatrol.com and run a free scan and check for spywares. Then if you find spywares please run a scan and remove spywares. if not, please follow these steps... -> VISTA start then type msconfig then click on startup tab and then click on disable all. Please remember to enable the security software. Restart the computer. If still does not work then you may think of buying the memory.
