Login Failure-Relogin After Login

Ok, i got home from the store tonight, with a new game in hand, and i go to my computer and i see that my computer needs reset after a virus scan, with Norton 360, and then i reset it. When it starts again, it goes to the desktop then it logs out, i log back in, and it logs me out when it touches the desktop screen, then i hit login, and it just repeats over and over and over, its extremely annoying and i would like help fixing it.

Im not really sure on the model and stuff since it is a old casing with new insides. I have Windows XP with the latest SP.

Can you get into safemode?

I tried that after i tried to get on the first time, none of the other modes work.

Have you tried Last Known Good Configuration?

Have you tried getting into another user account?

You said that your computer needed restarting after a virus scan. I used to have Norton, and never had to restart after a scan. Is this something that happens often?

I did LKGC but it didnt work either, and Norton asks me to restart after it finds a a big virus already on the computer or is in a file, so that it can fully remove it.
