Computer DVD player problem
« on: April 21, 2009, 08:05:22 AM »
I have a Dell Inspirion 4600i , running Windows Xp, with a Samsung CD CD-RW/DvD player.
For some reason the player quit playing Cd's and DvD's  I did HKEY LOCAL MACHINE......
and deleated the upper and lower filters.  After that I could play a Cd and also a Video Cd, but it  still will not recognize or play a DVD.

Any comments and help will be GREATLY appreciated.

Some burners have more than one laser...1 for CD 1 for DVD...if it's more than 3 years old chances are a laser is shot...
To test it try to burn something on DVD and or swap it into another machine.,,
Unfortunately they aren't made like they used to be...the good news is a brand new dual-layer DVD durner is about $40 Bucks shipped from newegg...or shouldn't be much more than that at your local PC store...
