    Hangs or shutdown unexpectedly..

    I am having a problem with my pc that it often hangs(display blue or black screen) and shutsdown automatically and sometimes unexpectedly shutsdown automatically without hanging and when i try to on my pc it wont start unless when i switch off the main power plug and then switch on the plug and when i starts my pc it starts normally without any beep..displaying the same warning which all computers show after being unexpectedly shutdown due to loadshedding or power failiure and sometimes it shows another warning somelike that "windows failed to start a hardware or software change may cause this problem"...and my harddisk is having 16kb badsectors so i dont know whether it is happening due to badsectors.And also my processor and power supply fan is working properly.I am using Windows Vista Ultimate which is working properly without any error or virus.My system configuration is:
    Pentium-D 3.0 Ghz,Intel DG31 Processor board,1.5 Gb Ram,80 Gb Seagate Sata II,built-in graphic card and sound card.

    Please suggest me what to do?

      Connections, connections,.....make sure all of your connections are secure.....is the inside of your case, fan and heat sink free of dust.....reseat you ram,  then consider swapping the PS for a known good unit....to eliminate the PS as a source of problems..... Post any error messages......DC power fluctuations can make the shutdowns intermittant.

      Chkdsk is also an option

        Yup i have chcked my connections very well they all are securely connected and also my PS and processor fan is dust free because my pc is almost brand new...The only prob is that chck disk is showing 16 kb in badsectors in one of my drive..and my pc also hangs often...

        Replace the hard drive...and start backing up your data immediately.

          Are you sure this is all happening due to badsectors in hard drive (unexpectedly shutdown,hangs)..

            Did you run the diagnostic that Broni recommended in Reply#2?...........then he can answer Reply #5. Not that I disagree with Patio........HD sounds euchered.

              yup i have diagnosed my HD and diagnostic shows 16 kb in badsectors so please suggest me whether hardrive is responsible for all this?

              The drive may be fine....it's my new approach to get people to back up their data....
