Whats Basic Difference in varios Distro's.

Hi this is my first post to this forum.
I am new to Linux and want to know some differences.

I would like to know basic difference between:

1.Red Hat Based Linux
2.Debain's Based Linux
3.Slackware Based Linux

What kind of packages are need under this distros?
How can we clasify?
Which are the Distros that falls under this?

I was going tooo once I found out what he wanted.  The thing is that I cant answer that being like you but I run stuff from the terminal and will say that a ls though the same as dir wont all ways work.  Also, things like shutdown -h now is very case senitive.  in that -H is different then a -h.

I was jumping around post and seen this, thought that I may give it a try.  I cant fully answer his question since I dont know that much myself.  I was showing him differences in commands.  KAy???
