Surely add-ons are the main issue here.
The more of them you have, the longer it takes for firefox.exe process to end, but I don't care anymore since I don't have to restart FF anymore.

With Session Manager disabled, the Firefox process terminated much faster than before, however it still takes about 5-10 seconds.

Firefox (Safe Mode) has no problems at all, so I must conclude that an add-on is causing this. However, I'm not in the mood to go disabling my ~100 add-ons one at a time... Perhaps later...

The more of them you have, the longer it takes for firefox.exe process to end
My other laptop doesn't have this problem, and has about 80% of the add-ons this one has.
I'll have to investigate further...

Ah right. Interesting.....

I remember you had all those scripts for rounding buttons and text fields.  :D

Yeah, I miss them a little, but I'd rather not have RAM issues.

Been following your replies and I blame a program I downloaded from the Tor site, it was a program to hide my ISP so that I could watch English TV here in Tenerife.
I still haven't sorted my problem but I've instructed the household not to close FF until shutting down the computer. I've tried everything suggested on the Mozilla site but still no go, awaiting a reply from Firefox crew but I don't hold out much hope. I know that the problem is that FF does not remove the Parent lock from Profiles but don't know why because it obviously removes it on shutdown.

You can shut down FF any time you want. You just have to wait a few seconds before starting up again.

Download taskkill and copy it to C:\Windows\System32.

Now go to Notepad and type the following:
      Code: [Select]
      taskkill /f /im firefox.exe
Go to File --> Save As --> Filename.bat.

Now, when you close Firefox, run that batch file and see if you can start FF again.

        Glad I could help. ;)

You may want to try disabling that add-on to see if it really the cause of the problem.

          Hi,
Too long winded to go into it but I have removed every folder & File using the search function of the program but I think it must have left some residual .dll file or something which I can't find, anyway it's not a problem with the taskkill.
