I have a NES and a PS1, with Mario World, P.O.W., Duck Hunt and some alien game for NES and a Final Fantasy anthology for the PS1 (includes Chrono Trigger, FF IV and V I think and another FF related game).
Where's MagicSpeed?

He's playing a game called IRL. Great graphics, *censored* gameplay.

If you dont know DOS, you dont know Windows...

Thats why Bill Gates created the Windows NT Family.

My favorite 'retro' game, and really my favorite ever game, would have to be Final Fantasy VI (Final Fantasy III in the US). In fact, most of Square Soft's games for SNES were really good. Some other retro games I like... hmm... Super Mario World and the old NES Metal Gear games and Bionic Commando.

I wouldn't consider anything on CD to be really 'retro', unless maybe it was on that horrible SegaCD thing they came out with. Anything Playstation, Saturn, Dreamcast, XBox, etc. is way too young to be anywhere near being called 'retro'.

Hard to compare the two... two different styles of games. The franchises on the other hand, MGS has done much better than FF in terms of enjoyment in each subsequent sequel (for me anyway). MGS keeps getting better with each sequel whereas Final Fantasy seems to have gone downhill since VIII, each sequel moving further and further away from what the series once was. VI was the peak of the series for me, I was really disappointed with VII, VIII put my faith back in the series, but IX, X, X-2... I just couldn't enjoy them like I did the others, and they kept getting worse and worse.

Back on the topic of Retro games, I still love Zelda: A Link to the Past. I actually pull it out once in a while and give it a play though.

I haven't played any zelda game that came after Majora's Mask. I have beaten all of them up to there. Since I have a GC now I might get a copy of wind waker, but I'm not sure.

I'd say my favorite in the series would have to be a toss up between "A link to the past" and "Adventure of Link".

Also, if the PS1 doesn't count as "retro" would the N64 also not be considered as such? (I have to agree if that's the case, actually).

I'd say the SNES/genesis era probably defines the current line for "retro" games.

As far as FF games, I've never really been fond of them, but I have to say that Chrono trigger is one of the greatest SNES games. I've heard people say it's the "best game ever"- I don't go THAT far.

Actually, I was going to include it then got lazy, but yeah, N64 is a bit young to be retro.

No but I forgot to add Zelda...

The alien game was about you can basically shooting at anything that moves...
