computer wont start at all

when i turn on my computer it just goes to a black screen and says"reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device" then after that it jus keeps repeating thaty over and over and over and i dont know what to do

Possibly hard disk failure... Do you have virus protection? Have you made any changes to your system lately?
