Can you give us a list of the parts that make up your machine?

    Also what OS?

Read the original message please Spoiler.

I'm no expert mate but your RAM seems very low for modern games.. (very very low)
Your RAM needs updating and (your choice) hard drive could do with a boost. Could it not be your very low RAM? As I said no expert but trying to offer alternatives.

      windows xp sp2
      ecs p4vxasd2
      pentium4 1.6ghz
      256 ram
      40g hd

i also tried to install the sound driver of my on board sound card but the only driver with a set is c-media,but when i try to install it a manual install it installs the applications but its finish with the application and installing the driver its initiating no indicators of it copying any files to my pc and just prompts a message saying waiting for sound device to be ready.so i have just installed ah preset via tech sound driver that comes with the os but still no sound so i bought a sound card, but my system freezes in just a few seconds with the sound card enable.but if i disable it its running smoothly.so what do i do for my computer to run with sounds.i also cant seem to locate drivers for the built in sound . ???and also i know the ram is low but what if this does not solve the problem,i cant make my cousin buy this item if it would not fix the problem, and also forgot to say its not my pc unit it my cousin, some friend just gave it to her.and  I'm not running high graphics games this are just flash games.i also tried playing solitaire but still freezes with the soundcard i bought.

I understand what your saying but you have a shockingly small amount of RAM compared to your processor speed. I have duo 1.5ghz processor which to be fair is more but with 2g's of RAM.

First of all, I concur with others in recommending an upgrade in RAM (2 gigs should only run you about $30).

Secondly, is this sound card new?  I've had the same kind of problem installing various old cars that may've been damaged or just plain old and worn out.  If it's new, I'm not sure what to tell you.  Maybe work with your Mobo's manufacturer tech support to see if you can get the onboard audio working or see if they can solve your problem (as it may be common with that mobo).  Best of luck.

Tip: if installing a second sound card (and you only need one), disable the onboard sound card in the BIOS.

Almost certainly a drivers issue, and very unlikely to be due to a card being "worn out"...

yes i know the ram is to low,but how many percentage does it has,to solve the soundcard issue?because if changing the ram would really fix it i would advice my cousin to buy a new ram,but if doesn't work,my cousin would probably think i've just wasted their money with the new ram, and the sound card is new.also tried disabling the onboard soundcard with bios, its still the same, also have a problem with my bios setup every time i turn n my pc for the first boot, always prompt bios setup wrong so i tried to edit the bios manually.specifically the time and date, but after i turn it off and pull the plug of the avr.and turn it on again, the same problem occurs with my bios.so if disabling the onboard would do the job, still,i have a problem because of that situation with the bios always having errors.and this is not my pc its my cousin's pc so they would be having a hard time doing the bios setup. :-X and if ever i would change the ram can i use DDR2-800 on a P4VXASD2 motherboard?
