      That did not work,

When I try to connect it asks for the password, when I type in the one I normally use this window pops up:

Type the key again using 5 or 13 characters 10 or 26 charactersusing didgets 0-9 or a-f

What brand/model router do you have?

Try typing in 192.168.0.1 to get into the router setup menu...
      Then manually re-set the PWord.

that reminds me- if your laptop has a ethernet connection, try connecting to your router directly using a ethernet cord. since only the wireless is subject to the password you should be able to follow patio's suggestion and reset your password.

Personally i'd set up a brand new wireless connection using the Wireless Network Wizard...leaving the old connection in place in case that approach does not work for some reason...

            cool, we're making progress then.

My D-link has it's config page at 192.168.0.1. I don't know wether you'll have a password set, but for mine the default was admin (the reset button will have reset the password as well).

I'm not  sure how similar the different models are with respect to their setup pages. Mine is a DIR-655, as indicated at the top of it's config page.

The wireless setup can be found via the top "setup" tab, and the "wireless settings" item on the left.

mine allows for either a wizard method of setting it up, or a manual method. either should work.

While your at it I suggest switching from WEP to WPA, or if your router supports it, WPA2. This way you'll be able to use a "pre-shared key" or password/passphrase, that can be a human readable set of words rather then some random gibberish like what WEP wants.

              No problem  :)

I don't know your exact model, however. We can find this out. It's usually on a sticker on the bottom of the router itself, or, if viewing that isn't an option, you can find it on the configuration page, which you can get to by pointing your browser to
              http://192.168.0.1

I found this MS page that might help in the meantime:
