Hi everybody,
Can anyone offer any advice or suggestions regarding the following media player video playback problem?
Before continuing, it may be worth mentioning that the above problem first appeared immediately following a computer-hanging-at-shutdown problem which I finally managed to fix via, I think, a Windows update!
I say I think because I'm not exactly sure what it was that fixed the problem as a result of trying a number of things including:
1 – System Restore
2 – Registry “Wait to Kill Service” adjustment
3 – “Startup” Program adjustment
4 – Software removal
The only reason for mentioning the computer hanging problem is the suspicion that it may have something to do with the current problem.
Anyway, to the present problem: Upon the computer starting up I get a “Found new hardware wizard” - despite the fact that I haven't recently installed any new hardware! After clicking to allow Windows to connect to Windows update to search for software, which shows as “Unknown”, I get a “Hardware not installed because Windows can't find new software” message.
Please note that this problem only affects video playback. Audio playback is fine.
Finally, inserting a disc into both of my drives brings up the following:
Error:
Playback Failure: DVDRead could not open disc “E”.
Your input can't be opened: Unable to open the MRL “dvd://E:”
Check log for details.
Sorry for the length of the query and please let me whether I've neglected any other important information.
Once again, any help would be much appreciated.
