no makes more sense, never heard of it like that.  Figured it would be numeric or something then letters an stay that way for a while.
Windows 7 RC Tester.  Working on it.  Your monitor says etchasketch on the side!

If I fall who is there to pick me up now.  I stand alone but I stand as the gaurdian for whom I wish to protect.  The sound of my blade utters my name as you fall.  For I shall not move.  For those that forsake the very people are wosres

You never figured why they called it Windows 98 or 2000 or Millennium Edition?

2000 was the start of the new mellium so why not call it one or the other?

Not sure what Mellium is (sounds like fruit) but 2000 is a new millennium.

Actually, 2001 was the start of the new millenium.
        (2000 was a year-long beta test...kinda like Windows 7)

        Millennium Falcon for the way!

Or did you mean mellium melon?

Windows ME was like a media center edition of Windows 2000. Kinda like the Windows XP MCE edition ...

        It was not!

ME was completely different than 2000, it was more like 98!

Indeed. It was nowhere near XP.

I never said Windows ME was anywhere close to being related to windows XP. I said Windows ME was like a MCE edition to Windows 2000. Just like Windows XP has its MCE edition.

It's like Windows 2000 users who wanted M$'s windows movie maker needed to use windows ME to get that app. And Windows XP users who wanted the windows media player needed to be useing the MCE edition ....  :P

As I said before, 2000 and ME are not alike.
2000 is an NT-based system and ME is not.

True ... but anyway, I'd like to know why Microsoft developed Windows ME, which was, as far as I understood from what people have told me or what I've been reading, short lived, not very good at all.

I'm wondering what operating systems would you like combined so you get best of both worlds (without having to use emulating/virtualization software or bootcamp or installing multi operaraating systems on a computer like you do in dual booting)? Mac/Windows? Mac/Linux ? Windows/Linux? or something else? (Not saying we should do it, but just asking anwyay ....)
