So you only want to change the registered user name?
Just tell us what OS version and Service Pack it is.

Can you open your registry editor and find the following...

        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

You should be able to just edit that to what you want.

Unlike most registry settings that one isn't tricky at all.

it worked  .Thanks for the help.I should leave the id  number in the registry alone. one more question.  when windows nt boots up you have  to  crt alt and delete to be able to log in to windows and then you have to put in user id and password to log. is there  anyway of getting   the computer to go  right in to windows.
