Safe download for Free fax program for XP?

Hello: I use XP service pack 3 and I'd like to have a program by which I can receive faxes on my computer and then print them out. Does anyone know of a free download program anywhere which would do this? Also, if I could send faxes also, then so much the better!

Hello Mr. Quantos: You may find this really unbelievable, but did you notice that the name of the link as it appears in the URL is freecountry. Well, I guess I don't live in one, because that site is filtered!  Can you give me the name of one or two programs from that site that I can look up without having to go to a "free country". Sheesh!

Oh, and one more thing. I know that I can just search the internet for a download of free fax programs, but I never know which downloads to trust. I've had some bad experiences with trojan horses hiding in downloads so I'm hoping that the wise folks at computer  hope can direct me to a safe download for a free fax program.

Hello I have Windows XP 5.1 service pack 3. I can access tucows. I saw one download there with a good rating, others with a not so good rating. Even for the good one there wasn't much explained about it. I need to be able to receive faxes and I 'm not sure if this was a receive fax thing or a send fax thing.  So, I'm still looking..

I looked up the two main downloads on the tucows site, the ones with the best rating. I found this bit of information: I can't use an ADSL connection for a fax. Now that's something I didn't know. I do have a voice modem. Both are connected. 

A new question:  My voice line is expensive to use, as it also requires that I pay for phone service. Plus, it cuts off if I'm connected but not using it, and there is really no way to predict when it will be on or off.  What I'm getting at is:
  Does the voice modem have to be connected to the dial up connection ISP when the fax comes in, or, is the fax stored somewhere, just like email and I can pick it up when I go online?

If your voice modem costs are prohibitive then do a search for online Fax services...
There is a fee but probably way less than what the line costs...
eFax is one i remember but there are others.
