startup problem

i just finished installing windows xp on my computer.

everytime i turn it on,it prompts me to select from safe mode, last known good configuration,..etc...

if i select safe mode, it gives me long line of codes that i cannot comprehend

if i chose last known good configuration,it will try to load windows then it restarts all over again.same is true if i select run windows normally.

anybody, pls help me.

Ok, safe mode is supposed to show the files names etc. It takes a few minutes to get through that... Also, why not start in normal mode?

We need more clues to solve this startup mystery.  Please tell us: Has this computer done this since you first installed Windows XP, or is this a recent problem?  If it is recent, what changed just prior to the symptoms you described?  (For example, did you install a new program? did you add a new CD drive? did your anti-virus program detect a virus?)
