A persistent virus (NEED HELP BADLY)
    « on: July 25, 2009, 03:57:40 PM »
My computer recently got a virus (no idea where from) and I've tried everything I know and researched to get rid of it.
It wont allow me to run cmd prompt, ms
config, task manager, any antivirus software and other programs like noob killer, kaizer killer and stopzilla. I also can't access webpages that are antivirus in nature. Everything else seems unaffected although its all very slow. No names have popped up anywhere so I don't even know what the virus is called (I thought for a time it was something like a 'long live sowar' type virus but I doubt it now).
I've reset internet options and cleared all the temporary files i could. It seemed to have deleted a .dll file that stopped me from running noob killer and the like all together but I've since replaced it and its still there. My main internet browser is firefox but I still have internet explorer and they both have the same issues. I hope I've given enough info.

You have to go here ....

You may have to transfer the programs to a USB stick and transfer to the infected machine.

Rename the file if you have a problem running it.

I did all that, thats how I got noob killer on my computer in the first place, but as soon as I open it or any antivirus software it shuts down straight away. I have VET antivirus but I haven't updated it in a while (its a bit of an annoying program) so I downloaded AVG and that was pretty up to date. I should also note that I use ccleaner regularly.

        ***UPDATE***
I've since identified the virus as brontok.c(22) and I tried numerous brontok cleaners and have been unsuccessful
